About Us
Foothill Middle School, a Walnut Creek suburban school located within the Mount Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) in Contra Costa County, is committed to providing a safe, orderly, respectful and supportive environment conducive to academic learning and self-growth.
Focusing on MDUSD and site Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals we target our Career Technical Education (CTE); Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM); and use of technology throughout all classes on campus.
Foothill’s mission is to provide a learning community committed to supporting all students in achieving academic success and acquiring the skills to be a 21st century global citizen. It is a concerted effort by teachers, staff, students, parents/guardians, and community members to succeed at our mission. Support through academic programs such as an added advisory period most school days, a peer tutoring program; community building practices with staff and students; and utilizing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and other means of correction (OMC) with student discipline and attendance have added to our goal of meeting the needs of all students. A united effort with MDUSD and Foothill develops and continually nurtures our students.
Foothill Middle School, serving students for more than 50 years, is prideful of history and continued growth with rigorous and challenging academic curriculum, and opportunities for social and emotional improvement through programs, classes, and clubs. Students are enriched with opportunities with classes, programs, and after school clubs focusing on visual and performing arts, ecology, community service, and more.Technology is integrated throughout our curriculum and is pivotal in preparing students with the California Content State Standards (CCSS) and beyond.
Through collaboration, recognition, and purposeful work on school climate, and a vision of our future, Foothill continues to focus on student learning, encompassing their social and emotional needs. Our Associated Student Body and Leadership program supports positive school climate and culture. As a community we continually are striving to encourage acceptance and understanding, address today’s pressing issues, including proper use of social media, and standing together against bullying and harassment.
